In order to connect, first add the settings for your server. This may be done through the 'Servers' dropdown menu or by clicking on the third button.

The Servers dropdown menu allows a person to enter, edit, or remove servers. It also provides a list of servers known to the software for the user to select from.

This dialogue box allows a person to enter the settings for a hosting account. The 'Name' field is arbitrary. Important fields are the hostname (domain), username, and password.
Notice the checkbox at the bottom. Those connecting through a firewall may need to check that box. Most likely this will not be necessary, so try it unchecked first and edit the settings later if a problem occurs.

Now that the settings for a hosting account have been added we are ready to connect. The connection button is the first one on the left, shown with a yellow lightning bolt..

CoffeeCup needs to know which server of those listed it should connect to.

CoffeeCup has now connected to the hosting server. Files on the server will be shown on the right, while files on the connecting system appear on the left. To move files from the left to the right double-click on them.

CoffeeCup requires confirmation at this stage. Click 'Yes' to confirm that you really intend to upload the file.

This dialogue box shows the progress of the transfer. Users on fast connections probably will not even notice this box as it will disappear quickly.

Clicking 'Abort' will stop the transfer, as will clicking the 'X' button. Usually it is only necessary to wait. Note that if a firewall is going to interfere with the connection, this is it is during this phase that problems will occur. If nothing is being transferred and the Internet connection is active, try checking the 'Firewall Friendly' option in the server settings.

The file has now transferred. Notice that it now appears on both sides of the program, as there is a copy on my system and on the hosting server.
